KATHMANDU, March 6: Some passengers were found sleeping on luggage trollies, some were sitting on the floor and some others were playing around to kill time. They were unaware when their flights would take off as airlines officials have not given them any information except putting out a notice with a telephone number that their flights have been cancelled.

Around 12,000 passengers have suffered due to disruption of international flights at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) as the Turkish Airlines Airbus, which met with an accident on Wednesday, has remained stuck at the runway. Many of the passengers have not been kept informed by the airlines and remain stranded.

Yuba Raj Shrestha of Morang, who was headed for Saudi Arabia by Indian Airlines, said the airline told him his flight would take place after 5 p.m. “Our flight was at around 3 p.m. and Al-Samit, our manpower company, asked us to reach the airport at 11 a.m.. We have been waiting here with empty stomachs since morning,” he said. He is part of a group comprising 34 people.
